Advances in cataract surgery and the options for the latest in premium implants can now allow an individual to have maximum vision function for both distance and near without dependence on glasses.

Traditionally, when a cataract was removed, the cloudy lens was removed and replaced with a clear intraocular lens implant. This clear implant, however, did not correct astigmatism, nor did it correct the inability of post cataract patients to focus on both near and distance. This situation has meant that glasses were still necessary after cataract surgery in order to achieve best vision.

Now, however, we have unique specialized implants that can correct for astigmatism, and implants that can allow maximum focusing for both distance and near without dependence on glasses.

Although in general, medical insurance companies will cover the cost of cataract surgery, they will not cover the cost of the upgrade to your maximum vision with these premium implants. We don’t agree with that decision of the insurance companies, but that is their rules.
